Welcome to the First
#828Blessings Share Social of 2014!
As I look back over my life, I realize there were things that I never knew that brought me to places I never thought I would be. As a Teenager I never knew that those doors which were closed to me may have been blessings in disguise. During the struggles and situations I faced where I felt that things were working against me I always felt that somehow God was turning away from and neglecting my needs. I never knew it was in my favor. I would fall into a depression and wonder what I was doing wrong. I never knew it was for my good. I would neglect my prayer time, my Word, my prayer, my praise. i never knew those were my lifelines.
It wasn’t until I began to search the word for comfort that I discovered that closed doors may only mean opened windows and missed opportunities may only be delayed solutions. The same way my mind was still learning to deal with life as an adult so too was my spiritual mind learning to digest and eat the Word in a mature manner.
I needed those moments of ‘not knowing’ in order to fuel my thirst and hunger for more knowledge of God and His promises for me. Those times helped lead me to a closer relationship, a closer walk where I can hear God’s voice in the winds of a storm or the soft whisper of a breeze.
I had read Romans 8:28 many times before I was actually able to receive the truth that ALL things were working for my good. The ING behind the work in that verse means process. It means that even though I may not see the evidence of the Blessing immediately the results are still on their way.
Why? How? simply because I am called. That’s it. The process of hearing and answering the voice, that whisper of God calling me to His purpose supplies me with the assurance that even the times I perceive as rejections and let downs are actually God working out things for my ultimate favor.
What better assurance can I have to keep my head up? To stand firm on my faith? To continue on my journey and share what goodness He can offer? None that I can think of. It is this assurance that allows me to smile in sorrow, laugh in sadness and remain calm in a storm. I KNOW who my God is and what He is capable of. For me that is my greatest story of my #828Blessings.
The times when I’ve thought I was alone I had my Word to remind me that I never am (Matthew 28:20). Or when I felt fearful I knew He gave me me not fear but power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Even in my weakest moments when my mind went back to my past I had the assurance that the plans God had for me were to prosper me, to give me hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
This is why, I am able to walk into this New Year, I release the fears, doubts and worries that I have had concerning all things and instead embrace and receive the promises I have been granted simply by heeding the call and yielding to his purpose. I Now Know what my purpose and my path are and with God I can walk in them both with strength and faith.
