This week’s prompt is one that calls upon us to take a look at what we know, what we have experience in and even what we may see ourselves and knowledgeable about and share it with others. I don’t see myself as an expert in many things but I do know that I always try to learn from my experiences. As a new Blogger the first thing I had the chance to learn was finding the support of a community. The second thing was how to be a true support within that community.
As a Blogger finding a community of like-minded Bloggers with similar goals, ambition and drive can be difficult to say the least. Yet when you do it is one of the biggest assets to anyone looking to find true success. Once you are a part of a Blogging Community learning how to support that community is key to it’s success as well as your own.
Joining an Online Community or Facebook Group is only the first step but there are several other things needed to be an active support to that community.
Give your fellow Bloggers well thought out, constructive and supportive comments. Each time I read a new comment on my site I am excited to see what impact my words had on someone, did they relate, disagree, empathize? When I write I write to share my feeling, experience and emotions. So when someone comments I am always eager to see what they felt as they read. This is true for most Bloggers. Needless to say, reading a comment that is clearly no more than a pass through can be a bit of a let down: “Nice post.” “Thanks for sharing” Or even a comment that is no more than a plug for someone’s own site and content: “Great post, I just wrote this one…come see” “Would love a follow”. As a rule of thumb I always try to give the comment I would want to receive. If I read a post and it truly had no significant impact on me or even if I simply can’t find the words to explain the impact it had – I don’t comment. Quality is better than quantity even with comments.
Share, Pin, Like and spread the word about other Blogger’s sites and content. When I am at a loss for words or a post simply resonates with me to the point where I know it needs to be seen by others that’s when I take those few moments to share. Whether I Pin, Tweet, Google+, Like or share to Facebook I do my best to get the word out that ‘Hey! This is something you all need to read and here’s why…’
You know that saying ‘what goes around comes around’? Most times when you are a person who supports in sharing the content of fellow Bloggers in your community they are more than willing and most times eager to return that same support to you.
Share your knowledge – if you know a tip, trick or guide to doing something share. There are times when we all need a bit of help. Making a thumbnail, editing an image, how to share…how to anything. If you have knowledge that can be a help to the next person share it. There are so many things that I have learned from the amazing Bloggers within my community that would have been so much harder for me to find or figure out on my own.
How do you show support within your Blogging community?
